St Joseph’s Sr Sec School, Sector 44 D, Chandigarh, has joined hands with CACA (Children against Child Abuse) in a joint venture to sensitise masses to the protection of the child rights. Under this programme, an online session on the topic ‘Legal Sensitisation on Pocso and JJ Act’ for the non-teaching staff (Class IV employees) was organised to make them aware of the child safety. The purpose of the session was to create awareness among attendants in order to prevent cases of sexual abuse of kids. Studies across the country have reported distressing statistics in this regard — every second child being the victim of some or the other form of sexual abuse. Child abuse is a serious problem that has lasting harmful effects on the victims. The session played an important role in sensitisation of the non-teaching staff about the types of abuse and what measures should be taken to prevent such incidents. The laws for child protection were also shared with the staff members. As many as 30 participants joined this session and gave a positive feedback after the session. The management and Principal of the school, Monica Chawla, extended thanks to CACA for this informative session.
