PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, OCF-29, Chandigarh, celebrated National Sports Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, India’s “Hockey Wizard”. The Chief Guest was Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee SSP Sunita Rani, a celebrated Indian athlete from Punjab. A pledge to uphold sportsmanship was administered by Miss Vandana of Class 10C, a national-level javelin player. Various sports events and cultural programmes were held, including a spirited tug-of-war between students and teachers, and a student parade. Principal KS Pathania encouraged students to draw inspiration from Major Dhyan Chand and thanked Ms Sunita Rani for gracing the event. In her address, she emphasised balancing sports and academics, hard work, staying away from drugs, and exploring career opportunities in sports. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by HM Devender Kumar and the National Anthem.
