PM Shri KV, Zirakpur, hosts Regional Sports Meet of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Chandigarh Region
The grand inauguration of the 54th Regional Sports Meet of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Chandigarh Region, was held at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium. The event was hosted by the school. The sports meet is being organised for the academic session 2025. In the event, around 400 participants from 58 Kendriya Vidyalayas of the Chandigarh Region are participating. The programme commenced with a formal welcome of chief guest, Brig Sumit Kapoor (Chairman, Vidyalaya Management Committee), by the Scout and Guide Colour Party. The inaugural ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest, Principal Pushpa Sharma, and Headmistress Seema Chaudhary, followed by a traditional ‘Green Welcome’ in accordance with the school’s custom. This was followed by the KVS flag-raising ceremony by Brig Sumit Kapoor and then Ishika, a player from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector 31, administered the oath of sportsmanship to all players. After the formal announcement of the commencement of the meet by the chief guest, the sports events were officially declared open. In his address, Brig Kapoor praised the students for their energy, discipline, dedication to sports, and true sportsmanship. In the concluding ceremony, Seema Chaudhary delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, all dignitaries, organisers, escorts, participants, etc. Thereafter, under the guidance of Manju Hooda (in-charge and PET) and Anup Saha, PET of the school, track events, such as the 100m, 400m, 800m, and 1,500m races for both boys and girls were organised on the first day. Finally, medals of first day events were presented to the winners by the venue Principal.
