Private schools likely to resume Classes VI to VIII from February 1

The UT Administration is likely to allow private schools to resume physical classes for Class VI to VIII students from February 1 similarly on the pattern of government schools, sources confirmed today.

Both private and government schools have already started physical classes for students of Class IX to XII from November 2.

“We will issue orders in this regard shortly, only then I can comment,” said Rubinderjit Singh Brar, DPI schools, when asked to confirm the development.

Meanwhile, the sources maintained that students will have to submit parents’ consent before coming to school.

“The Administration is likely to issue orders next week. Along with government schools, local private schools will be also allowed to start physical classes. The guidelines will mostly be similar to those for Classes IX to XII. Till now, schools have only called students of Classes IX to XII for a two-hour guidance/teaching session,” the sources added.

“A majority of schools are witnessing nearly 50 per cent attendance of students, who are being called in small batches. Schools have to be extra cautious for students of Class VI onwards in terms of maintaining social distancing norms and call them on alternate days,” said a teacher.
