Students of the school celebrated Republic Day outside Guru Teg Bahadur Hall with the functioning head of the university, Dean (Academics) Dr Narinder Kaur Multani. The school band gave a salute to the chief guest on arrival and played the national anthem after she unfurled the Tricolour. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Multani educated the students on flag hoisting during the Independence Day and unfurling of the flag on the Republic Day. She congratulated everyone and urged the present university staff to work together to strengthen the university. Dean, Colleges Development Council, Dr Balraj Singh Saini also had tete-a-tete with the schoolteachers. Registrar Dr Sanjiv Puri listed the various tasks accomplished by the university last year and thanked everyone. School in-charge Satvir Singh Gill distributed refreshment among the students.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
