In the morning assembly at Senior Secondary Model School, Punjabi University, Patiala, students celebrated the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas and also remembered Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Student Khushmanpreet Kaur shed light on Kargil Vijay Diwas and shared her thoughts on the life of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. School in-charge Satvir Singh Gill paid tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country and kept the Tricolour flying. The students came to know that the Kargil War concluded on July 26, 1999, when all the heights occupied by the enemies were declared vacated. The children also learnt that Dr Abdul Kalam is fondly called the ‘Missile Man of India’ for his pioneering efforts in making the country ‘atamnirbhar’ in this technology. The school in-charge gave a message to the students to take guidance from such a personality. The entire staff of the school was present on the occasion.
