Yadavindra Public School, Mohali, hosted the third edition of Swaraanjli – Interschool Music Competition, a celebration of timeless melodies and youthful talent. The event witnessed participation from 18 prestigious schools across the region, bringing together some of the most promising young voices in Hindustani classical and ghazal. Participants showcased exceptional talent, depth of expression, and a remarkable understanding of rhythm and melody. The judges, comprising seasoned musicians Vinod Pawar, a celebrated Saarangi artist and disciple of the legendary Ustaad Sultan Khan, and Arvinder Singh, a classical vocalist from the Agra Gharana, and Assistant Professor at Postgraduate Government College Sector 46, Chandigarh, applauded the dedication and discipline reflected in every performance. Prizes were awarded to the top performers in both categories, with schools taking home laurels for excellence in vocal prowess and musical interpretation. The first prize in the Hindustani Classical Vocal round was bagged by Padmakar Kashyap of DAV Model School, Sector 15, Chandigarh, followed by Avi Narula from Kundan International School, Chandigarh, and Ananya Mukherjee from DPS, Chandigarh, at the second and third positions, respectively. In the Ghazal Singing category, Gauri from DAV Model School, Chandigarh, Ananya Dutt Sharma from Ishwar Singh Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School, and Raavya Kaur of Kundan International School, Chandigarh, secured the first, second and third positions, respectively. Padmakar Kashyap got the Best Male Singer Award and Sayisha Gupta of Ryan International School got the Best Female Singer Award. The consolation prize was bagged by Pavitjot Singh of St Kabir School, Chandigarh. The programme culminated in a heartfelt closing address by the Director of YPS, Mohali, Major General TPS Waraich, who emphasised the transformative role of music in the lives of students.
