We began our marital journey in the regal city of Lucknow. I was captivated by its rich heritage, tehzeeb, and timeless charm. Exploring historical monuments revealed architectural brilliance that stood resilient through the ages. Tonga rides transported us to a bygone era of royalty and grace.
Our favourite pastime was ‘ganjing’ — a term that denotes leisurely strolling or shopping — especially at Love Lane and Janpath. There we relished Love21 ice-creams and the city’s famous Basket Chaat. Tasting Old Lucknow’s Mughlai cuisine was a gourmet’s dream. Soon, I fell in love with the beautiful chikankari suits that added to my sartorial elegance.
One unforgettable incident highlighted Lucknow’s famed tehzeeb. Caught in a protest that turned violent, I sustained a foot injury. Though most shops had shut, one kind-hearted shopkeeper offered me first aid and shelter until the chaos subsided.
Lucknow wasn’t just a city — it was an experience steeped in culture, warmth, and elegance that became an integral part of our lives.
I carry Lucknow proudly with me wherever I go.
