Chandigarh, February 13

Three athletes, all racewalkers, have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday.

Haryana’s Sandeep Kumar qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in the men’s 20-km racewalking event by creating a national record in 8th National Race Walking Championships in Ranchi. The 34-year-old Services athlete from Mahendergarh had missed the qualification mark by 34 seconds in the last year’s nationals.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Goswami, winner in the women’s event, also made the cut for Tokyo. The trio has also qualified for the 2022 World Athletics Championships.

Services’ KT Irfan and Bhawana Jat of Rajasthan have already qualified for the men’s and women’s 20-km race, respectively.
