A fine performance by skipper Amanjot Kaur (73) and opener Monika Pandey (67) helped Chandigarh to register an easy 118-run win over Nagaland in their last league tie of the Women’s Senior One Day Trophy at CAP Ground in Pondicherry on Wednesday.

Chandigarh eves, who had already qualified for the knock-out stage after winning their previous match against Mizoram, will now face seasoned Railways in the next round. The side has reached into the knockout stage for the first time.

Meanwhile after winning the toss city skipper Amanjot opted to bat today. The side amassed 210/5 in 50 overs. Monika opened the innings with Manisha Badhan, however the partnership was broken by Trishna Nair as she claimed Manisha for 12. Suman (8) also did a little before falling prey to Pankul. She left the team struggling at 41/2. Amanjot then joined Monika and the duo took over the charge. They raised a 125-run partnership before Sariba accounted Monika’s wicket. The opener scored 67 off 128 balls, with seven boundaries and one six, to take the team’s total to 166 runs.

Priyanka Guleria (8) was the next to go after she was trapped lbw by Sariba, whereas Amanjot posted 73 off 109 balls, studded with nine boundaries, before Ayantika claimed her wicket to reduce Chandigarh to 181/5. Nandani Sharma (20) and Ambu (10) then scored unbeaten contributions to raise a 29-run partnership. The duo left unbeaten on the team’s total of 210/5 in 50 overs. Sariba (2/42) was the pick of the bowlers, while Trishna (1/34), Pankul (1/25) and Ayantika (1/10) were the other main wicket takers for the side.

In reply, Nagaland were bowled out for 82 runs in 35.4 overs. Amanjot and Parual Saini claimed three wickets each, whereas Nanadani (2/13), Kumari Shibi (1/18) and Ambu (1/8) also contributed in the win.

Madhumonti (44 off 63 balls, with five boundaries) was the only major and unbeaten scorer for Nagaland.
