Moved by Naushad’s commentary on his son’s achievement, Mahindra posted on X, “Himmat nahin chodna, bas!” The post further read: “Hard work. Courage. Patience. What better qualities than those for a father to inspire in a child? For being an inspirational parent, it would be my privilege and honour if Naushad Khan would accept the gift of a Thar.”

A consistent performer on the domestic circuit for Mumbai, Sarfaraz had been in contention for national selection for a long time but the 26-year-old has had to wait for his chance to break into the Indian Test side.
