Chandigarh, December 23

Anupama Upadyaya of Panchkula won the girls’ U-15 singles title on the concluding day of the 33rd Sub Junior National Badminton Championships, at Bhubaneswar. She defeated top seed Tara Shaw of Maharashtra 21-17 15-21 21-11 in a tough outing to win the final. Devika Sihag and Ridhi Kaur Toor, also from Panchkula, won the girls’ U-17 doubles title by registering a comeback 14-21 21-18 21-18 victory over second seed Pranavi and Sarumahi. Another teenager of Panchkula Rijul Saini won silver medal in the U-15 mixed doubles category. Her partner was Samarveer of Chandigarh.

Devika Sihag also won bronze medal in the girls’ U-15 singles category.
