Bayern win 20th cup title

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich kept their hopes of a treble alive after a dominant 4-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen to lift the German Cup for a record-extending 20th time at the Olympiastadion on Saturday.

Bayern sealed their 13th domestic double as Hansi Flick, who took over as interim boss when they sacked Niko Kovac in November, repaid the Bavarian club’s faith in him by winning his first final as permanent manager. Flick also became the first German to win the country’s league and cup double as a player and manager.

Juve’s Buffon breaks record

Turin: Cristiano Ronaldo finally scored from a free-kick for Juventus and goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon made a record 648th Serie A appearance as the league leaders beat their smaller neighbours Torino 4-1 on Saturday. Ronaldo curled his shot over the wall and into the corner in the 61st minute, his first goal in 43 free-kick attempts at Juventus.

Later, veteran forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, starting his first match since the coronavirus stoppage, converted a penalty to help AC Milan to an emphatic 3-0 win at Lazio on Saturday, severely denting the Serie A title hopes of their ragged opponents.
