Tanvi, Tharun enter finals of Odisha Masters

India’s Tanvi Sharma and Tharun Mannepalli kept alive their hopes of maiden Super 100 crowns, advancing to the women’s and men’s singles finals at the Odisha Masters Super 100 badminton tournament. The 15-year-old Tanvi defeated compatriot Shriyanshi Valishetty 21-19 21-19. Tharun overcame sixth seed Sathish Kumar 12-21 21-19 21-12.

Bengaluru extend unbeaten home run with fighting draw

Bengaluru FC effected a late comeback to clinch a point as they played out a 2-2 draw in their Indian Super League match against FC Goa. The Blues extended their unbeaten streak on their home turf to seven matches this season, winning five games and drawing twice. In Kolkata, Mohun Bagan Super Giant beat Kerala Blasters 3-2 to register their fifth consecutive home win and cement their top spot.

Afghanistan edge Zimbabwe to win T20 series

Afghanistan edged Zimbabwe with three balls to spare in their final T20I to win the series 2-1 after scoring 128/7 in reply to Zimbabwe’s 127. The two countries will now embark on a three-match ODI series, also in Harare, followed by two Tests in Bulawayo.

Amir announces retirement from international cricket

Controversial Pakistan left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir bid adieu to international cricket on Saturday, months after coming out of retirement to play in the T20 World Cup. Amir, who was banned from cricket for five years between 2010 and 2015 on spot-fixing charges and was briefly jailed for his crime, had retired from all forms of international cricket in 2020. However, he changed his mind and returned to play in T20 World Cup earlier this year.
