Sainath is in the hunt for bronze through the repechage round in the 51kg category. In the 110kg category, Ronak Dahiya will play for bronze after losing his semifinal 0-2.

T20 WC: NY’s drop-in pitches get ‘satisfactory’ rating

The ICC match referees have gone soft on the much-maligned pitches used for the New York leg of the T20 World Cup with six of the eight games, including the India-Pakistan contest, getting a “satisfactory” rating. Ashmita, Malvika out of Japan Open badminton

Indian shuttlers Ashmita Chaliha and Malvika Bansod bowed out with opening-round losses in the women’s singles competition at the Japan Open. While Ashmita lost 16-21 12-21 to top seed Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei, Malvika was shown the door by Ukraine Polina Buhrova 21-23 19-21. Aakarshi Kashyap also crashed out, losing 13-21 12-21 against South Korea’s Kim Ga Eun.
