A valiant knock of 72 not out by Rishi Dhawan and 69 by opener Priyanshu Khanduri helped Himachal Pradesh to a comfortable position on Day 2 of their Ranji Trophy Group B match against Karnataka. Resuming at the overnight 29/3, Himachal Pradesh ended the day on 235/7 for a comfortable lead of 69, with three wickets in hand. Himachal Pradesh had wrapped up the home innings for 166 runs on Day 1.

The visitors had a terrible start to their day as Mayank Dagar (4) fell early, reducing the team to 32/4. However, this led to a fightback by Khanduri and Nikhil Gangta as they added 90 runs for the fifth wicket, playing cautiously and scoring at a run-rate of less than three per over. Gangta, who played 103 balls for his 46, was dismissed by Jagadeesha Suchith in the 57th over. Coming in 122/5, Dhawan played aggressively, hitting seven fours and three sixers off the 96 balls he faced to reach 72 not out at stumps.

No play in Punjab game

Nagpur: No play was possible on the second day of the Group A match between Punjab and defending champions Vidarbha due to bad light. The hosts, thus, remained static at their overnight score of 196/6.
