Novak Djokovic reached the fourth round of the French Open for a record 12th consecutive year. The top-seeded Djokovic has not been pushed yet in any match in the first week at Roland Garros, winning 6-1 6-4 6-1 against 93rd-ranked Ricardas Berankis today.
Joining him in the fourth round was defending champion Rafael Nadal, who eased past Cameron Norrie of Great Britain in straight sets. Roger Federer was to play his third-round match in the night session.
In the women’s draw, fifth seed Elina Svitolina crashed out with a third-round 6-3 6-2 loss to 33rd-ranked Czech Barbora Krejcikova as big names continued to fall. The tournament is already without its top three women’s seeds, and Ukrainian Svitolina joined them after failing to find a way to rein in the 25-year-old Krejcikova’s power-packed game in their first meeting. — PTI
