India put up a brilliant display against Oman to bag three points from their opening game of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers in Fujairah, UAE, today. India beat Oman 2-1 after a great first half. While Oman did mount a late charge, India managed to hold them off.

Rahim Ali opened the scoring for India from the penalty spot in the seventh minute, while Vikram Partap Singh doubled the lead 31 minutes later. Waleed Salim Al Musalmi pulled one back in the 89th minute. Deepak Tangri was solid in defence. India will next take on hosts UAE on October 27. — TNS
