Sania-McHale runners-up after straight-set loss

Veteran Indian tennis player Sania Mirza and her American partner Christina McHale ended runners-up at the WTA 250 event here after losing the final 5-7 3-6 to top seeds Shuko Aoyama and Ena Shibahara of Japan. In singles, Anett Kontaveit beat Irina-Camelia Begu 7-6(5) 6-4 for her second WTA Tour title. Meanwhile, Ilya Ivashka beat Mikael Ymer 6-0 6-2 in the Winston-Salem Open to become the first player from Belarus to win an ATP Tour singles title in 18 years.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the rain-hit Belgian Grand Prix as half-points were awarded for only the sixth time in F1 history.
