Vice-captain Harmanpreet Singh slammed a hat-trick as the Indian men’s hockey team beat Wales 4-1 in its final Pool B match to qualify for the semifinals of the Commonwealth Games here today. Harmanpreet (19th, 20th and 40th minutes) converted two penalty corners and scored one from the spot, while Gurjant Singh (49th) struck a field goal to complete the rout.

While two-time Olympics medallist Sindhu routed Maldives’ Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq 21-4 21-11 in the first round of the women’s singles, Srikanth outclassed Daniel Wanagaliya of Uganda 21-9 21-9 in the men’s singles event.
