Ronaldo scores as Juventus draw with AC Milan 1-1

Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury-time penalty grabbed Juventus a 1-1 draw at AC Milan in their Italian Cup semifinal first leg. The 35-year-old has now scored 12 goals in his last eight games in all competitions after the Portuguese ultimately got the better of old rival Zlatan Ibrahimovic despite being largely anonymous for much of the match. Milan paid for Theo Hernandez’s 71st-minute red card as they failed to close out a game they had dominated for long periods and led through Ante Rebic. The last-4 second legs will take place on March 4 and 5, with the final on May 13 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Sociedad beat Mirandes 2-1 in Copa del Rey semis

Real Sociedad edged second division Mirandes 2-1 in their Copa del Rey semifinal first leg, taking a tentative step closer to a potential all-Basque final against Athletic Bilbao. Sociedad had knocked out Real Madrid 4-3 in the quarterfinals and they were in control early on at home against Mirandes, the only second-tier side to make the last-4. Captain Mikel Oyarzabal gave them a ninth-minute lead from the penalty spot after a foul by Odei Onaindia on Portu. Mirandes were on level terms on 40 minutes thanks to Matheus Aias but Sociedad restored their advantage through Norwegian prodigy Martin Odegaard just two minutes later.
