The incumbent Rohan Jaitley has won another term to become the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) president. In an election where Kirti Azad, who was a member of the 1983 World Cup winning team, raised the issue of mismanagement of funds, Jaitley got the overwhelming backing of the voters. Jaitley, son of late BJP leader Arun Jaitley, won after polling 1,577 votes as opposed to 777 garnered by Azad.

Jaitley’s term will get over in 2026 as by then he would have served six years in office. As per the Lodha Committee reforms, presidents of cricket associations will only get two terms after which they will have to serve a cooling-off period of two years. Jaitley had served one year as president in 2020 after Rajat Sharma resigned.

Jaitley group’s Shikha Kumar won the post of the vice president after defeating Rakesh Bansal and Sudhir Kumar Agarwal. Shikha got 1246 votes while Bansal and Agarwal finished distant second and third with 536 and 498 votes, respectively.

“We have received a big mandate from the association. We are committed to delivering on the promises we have made and our focus is to elevate cricket in Delhi, particularly grassroots-level cricket, while also pursuing infrastructural growth,” Jaitley said.

But he did concede that there were concerns regarding the selection process of DDCA teams. “We are aware of the complaints about the selection process. We will address these issues and ensure that all flaws are resolved,” he added.
