Chandigarh, December 20
Lakshmi Prabha Arunkumar claimed twin titles on the concluding day of the St Stephen’s School CLTA-AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament, held here today. In the girls’ U-18 final, Lakshmi from Tamil Nadu overpowered Ruma Ashutosh Gaikaiwari of Maharashtra in straight sets 6-4 6-4. She repeated her performance in the girls’ U-16 final by defeating second seed Haryana’s Anjali Rathi 7-5 7-6(6).
Meanwhile, top seed Haryana’s Krishan Hooda won the boys’ U-18 title by defeating his state-mate fifth seed Shashikant Rajput 6-2 6-1. Fifth seed Punjab’s Jitin Kumar Chetry ousted another Punjab’s contender seventh seed Sukhpreet Singh Jhoje 6-1 6-3 to win the boys’ U-16 final. Dr Reet Mohinder Singh, Member Executive and Megh Raj, Chief Operating Officer, CLTA distributed the prizes to the winners and runners-up of both events.
