Cristiano Ronaldo marked his birthday by setting up Juventus to beat Roma 2-0 in Serie A. Ronaldo turned 36 on Friday then showed little sign of slowing down as he scored and also hit the crossbar in the first half. An own goal by Roma defender Roger Ibanez sealed the win for a clinical Juve. Juventus leapfrogged Roma into third place.

Tottenham moved up to seventh place. Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised in the fifth minute of stoppage time for Everton to draw 3-3 at Manchester United, who squandered a chance to move level on points with first-placed Manchester City in the English Premier League on Saturday.

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the 500th and 501st club goals of his career in a 4-0 Serie A win over Crotone today to continue his remarkable form at the age of 39. The Swede, who turns 40 in October, swept a shot into the top corner before tapping in a second after the break to reach a landmark that has been achieved in a career spanning more than 21 years and nine different clubs.

With Sergio Ramos out injured, Raphael Varane stepped up to lead Real Madrid to victory. He did it with goals, too, like his teammate in central defence has often done recently. Italian teenager Jannik Sinner beat compatriot Stefano Travaglia 7-6(4) 6-4 in the Great Ocean Road Open final today, becoming the youngest player to have won two ATP titles since Novak Djokovic in 2006. The 19-year-old had won the Sofia Open at the end of last year.
