Chandigarh, December 17

Gurkeerat Singh Mann’s four-wicket haul and Mayank Markande’s 3/65 helped Punjab dismiss Hyderabad for 242 runs on Day 1 of their Group A match.

Kolla Sumanth and Himalay Agarwal contributed with 79 and 68 runs, respectively, to swell the visitors’ total. At one stage, Hyderabad were 53/4 and were in danger of being bundled out cheaply but Agarwal and Sumanth bail the team out of trouble. However, the lower-order misfired as Chama Milind (15) and Mehdi Hasan (11) failed to make significant contributions, and Hyderabad lost their last five wickets for only 30 runs.

Another Patiala bowler, medium-pacer Sandeep Sharma, returned figures of 2/27. As many as five players from Patiala are in the Punjab playing XI.
