NRAI receives request from chief coaches to organise shooting camp
New Delhi: The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has received a request from the chief coaches in rifle, pistol and shotgun disciplines to organise a one-month camp for the Olympics core group to ensure better preparation. NRAI had postponed the compulsory training camp for its core group planned from August 1 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, a handful of shooters who are part of the core group have been training on their own at Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range since the facility was reopened for use on July 8.
“We have received a request from the chief coaches to resume the national camp. Preferably, they want the camp to go on for at least a month,” NRAI secretary Rajiv Bhatia said. “There are a lot of factors that will need to be taken into consideration before starting the camp,” Bhatia added. The camp is likely to be organised in October.
