PV Sindhu progressed to the second round, while Saina Nehwal bowed out after losing her opener at the Malaysia Open Super 750 badminton tournament here today. Sindhu beat world No. 10 Pornpawee Chochuwong 21-13 21-17. Saina went down against USA’s world No. 33 Iris Wang, losing 11-21 17-21.

Parupalli Kashyap also made a positive return from injury as he prevailed 21-12 21-17 over South Korea’s Heo Kwang Hee to advance to men’s singles second round .

B Sumeeth Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa couldn’t get past world No. 21 Robin Tabeling and Selena Piek. The Indian duo lost 15-21 21-19 17-21 after a 52-minute battle.
