Sehar wins squash c'ship

Local squash player Sehar Nayar won the Eastern Slam Squash Championship 2019 concluded recently in Kolkata. She won the girls’ U-11 title to attain the top rank in National Rankings and fourth in Asian Rankings– in her age group.
In Kolkata, Sehar ousted Pune’s Vyomika Khandelwal 11-8 11-3 13-11 to claim the title. Earlier in her quarterfinal, she registered an 11-4 11-3 11-5 victory over Yaavna Saravankumar of Tamil Nadu and logged another one-sided 11-1 11-3 11-5 win over Sahana Kalivanan (also from Tamil Nadu) in her semifinal.
A student of Vivek High School (Sector 38), the 10-year old squash prodigy Sehar trains under Vikas Nayar and Saurab Nayar at Chandigarh Club. Earlier, this year, she had won the Rajasthan Squash Classic Championship and finished at runners-up position in the HCL Indian Junior Open 2019. She won the 8th Sunil Verma Memorial Squash Championship and finished second in the Junior Nationals, held in October.
