Unbeaten half-centuries by Shubman Gill and Sanvir Singh helped Punjab reach 132/0 after Ganesh Satish’s 145 enabled Vidarbha post 338 in their first innings on Day 3 of their Group B Ranji Trophy match.

Openers Gill (70) and Sanvir (56) put up an unbeaten stand of 132 as Punjab posted a strong response, and at stumps the visitors were trailing by 206 runs with 10 wickets in hand.

Earlier, Satish’s marathon innings helped Saurashtra wriggle out from 166/6 to post 338 all out in 118.2 overs. Satish’s 301-ball 145 was laced with 17 fours and one six. Eventually, he was run-out by Mayank Markande with team total reading 303. The innings folded up shortly after that as Gurkeerat Singh clean-bowled Yash Thakur for 8.

For Punjab, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh and medium-pacer Baltej Singh bagged three wickets each. Seamer Sandeep Singh proved out to be the most expensive bowler, returning figures of 2/104.

Nair, Padikkal guide Karnataka to 191/3

Mysuru: Karnataka’s floundering innings against Himachal Pradesh was resurrected by captain Karun Nair (62*) and Devdutt Padikkal (69*) as they took their team to 191/3 on Day 3 of their Group B match. Himachal’s Rishi Dhawan took three wickets, including that of Mayank Agarwal, to reduce Karnataka to 55/3. Nair, the standout batsman in Karnataka’s first innings with a gritty 81, and Padikkal added 136 runs in their unbeaten partnership to give the home team an overall lead of 77 runs.

Deobrat hits 97* vs Haryana

Jamshedpur: Kumar Deobrat’s unbeaten knock of 97 helped Jharkhand finish Day 3 on 194/2 in reply to Haryana’s first innings total of 371. At stumps, the hosts were still trailing Haryana by 177 runs with Deobrat and Saurabh Tiwary (26) at the crease. For Haryana, Tinu Kundu and Harshal Patel bagged one wicket each. — TNS
