Australian canoeist Jessica Fox used an Olympics-issued condom to repair her kayak during the K1 women’s event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. After repairing the kayak she even managed to bag a bronze medal.

“Bet you never knew condoms could be used for kayak repairs,” Jessica Fox captioned the now-viral video.

The video shared by the athlete on TikTok showed her carefully sliding the condom over the front of her kayak.  In the clip, a person is first seen applying a carbon mixture to the front of the vessel. Then, the condom is used to secure the mixture. “It gives the carbon a smooth finish,” Fox wrote.

The video has been widely shared on Instagram and Twitter.
