Dubai: Teen prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s struggle against seam bowling was apparent during his brief stay as India U-19 comprising IPL contract owners struggled badly during their 43-run defeat to Pakistan in the Youth Asia Cup. After left-hander Shahzaib Khan thrashed Indian bowlers to submission with 10 sixes in his 159 off 147 balls, Indians were never in sight of victory target of 282. They eventually got out for 238 in 47.1 overs.

India hammer Taipei to make hockey Junior Asia Cup semis

Defending champions India delivered a commanding performance to storm into the semifinals of the men’s Junior Asia Cup hockey tournament with a resounding 16-0 win over Chinese Taipei. Dilraj Singh led the charge with four goals, while Rosan Kujur and Sourabh Anand Kushwaha scored hat-tricks. With three consecutive victories, the PR Sreejesh-coached side sits atop Pool A. India will face Korea in their final group match on Sunday.

Pranavi shoots 69 to be T-3, two shots behind leader

Pranavi Urs added a solid 3-under 69 to her first round of 6-under to be tied-third after the second round at the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de Espana. India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar shot a 3-under 69 to rise to tied-third with one more round to go in the $2.5 million International Series Qatar. At 9-under, Bhullar (70-68-69) is four shots behind American Peter Uihlein. Among other Indians, Anirban Lahiri (69-73-68) was T-12, Veer Ahlawat (72-71-71) was T-33, SSP Chawrasia (72-69-74) and Shiv Kapur (71-72-72) were T-39.
