A Gurdaspur man, Gurmeet Singh (47), who worked as a construction worker, was among seven people who were gunned down late on Sunday night in a terror attack on the camp, where they were staying in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Six labourers and a doctor were killed in the attack.

Gurmeet belonged to Sakhowal village falling in the jurisdiction of Batala police district and had been working with a construction company for the past two decades.

His father, Dharam Singh, had retired from the Army about 15 years ago.

The deceased’s family is on its way to the site to take possession of the body.

The other deceased have been identified as Dr Shahnawaz, a resident of Nayidgam Kashmir's Budgam; Mohammad Haneef; Faheem Nasir, a safety manager; and Kaleem — all from Bihar; Anil Kumar Shukla, a mechanical manager from Madhya Pradesh, and Shashi Abrol from Jammu.

The attackers left behind an INSAS rifle. Two vehicles of the company were also set afire.
