Stand with Delhi against terror networks in Pak: India Caucus

The India Caucus — a powerful voice in the US Congress — has expressed strong support for India in its efforts to dismantle terrorist networks operating from Pakistan.

Following a meeting with an all-party Indian delegation led by MP Shashi Tharoor in Washington DC on Wednesday, US Congressman Ro Khanna said, “The delegation represents India’s pluralism and unity across political and religious lines in condemning Pakistan-backed terrorism. The US has a bipartisan commitment to the India relationship and to standing with India against these terror networks.”

India Caucus Co-Chair Rich McCormick added, “We (India-US) are not just gonna be friends, we’re gonna be allies. The future of the world depends on it.”

The Indian delegation will continue its two-day engagement with US lawmakers, including meetings with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee, as confirmed by the Indian Embassy in the US.

The team will also engage with leading think tanks, media and the Indian diaspora, and will speak at the Council on Foreign Relations on Thursday.

The visit comes on the heels of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s recent trip to Washington, where India and the US discussed expanding trade and technology cooperation.

Apart from Tharoor, the delegation includes MPs from across party lines — Sarfaraz Ahmad (JMM), Ganti Harish Madhur Balayogi (TDP), Shashank Mani Tripathi (BJP), Bhubaneswar Kalita (BJP), Milind Deora (Shiv Sena), Tejasvi Surya (BJP) and India’s former Ambassador to the US Taranjit Sandhu.

The delegation has already visited Guyana, Panama, Colombia and Brazil.
