As per the announcement, the rate of the early variety of sugarcane has been increased from Rs 400 per quintal to Rs 415 per quintal and the rate of the late variety has been raised from Rs 393 per quintal to Rs 408 per quintal.
“The Haryana Government’s decision is not only in the interest of farmers, but will also give new momentum to the state’s agricultural economy. We are committed to the welfare of farmers. By offering the highest support price for sugarcane in the country, the government is striving to bring prosperity and happiness to their lives. This decision will make the festival of Diwali even brighter and sweeter,” said the CM.
Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana has lauded the CM for approving Rs 15 per quintal increase in sugarcane prices. “The Haryana Government has made a historic move to offer the highest sugarcane prices in the country, which is a major step towards enhancing farmers’ income and ensuring their economic prosperity,” he maintained. The announcement follows a recent meeting of the State Cane Control Board, chaired by the Agriculture Minister, where crucial policy decisions were made to streamline the operations of cooperative and private sugar mills across the state.
“Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana continues to lead in supporting its farming community. This Diwali, farmers will celebrate with greater prosperity and confidence,” said Rana.
The minister directed officials to ensure that all mills should commence crushing operations on time and that payments to farmers are made without delay.
“The state government has already cleared most of the pending payments owed to sugarcane farmers from previous seasons. Our goal is to ensure that no farmer faces financial distress due to delayed payments. Most sugar mills are prepared to start crushing operations as per schedule,” he said.
Rana said with the sugarcane crushing season set to begin in early November, the consistent increase in sugarcane prices in Haryana would further strengthen the rural economy. “This move will also encourage diversification towards high-value and sustainable crops,” he claimed.
