The groom abandoned his wedding ceremony to chase the driver in the tempo as he snatched his garland of cash in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut.

A video of the incident, which has gone viral on social media, showed the groom, dressed in a grey suit and pink turban, hopped on a bike of a passer-by and chased the tempo driver on the highway.

He jumped off the bike and climbed onto the vehicle. In the video, the groom could be seen entering the vehicle from the window as he stopped it. Within seconds, the groom forced the driver out of the vehicle and thrashed him, along with two other people from the wedding ceremony.

The driver pleaded with the groom to spare him and told the groom that he had no intention of stealing and "mistakenly" took the garland of money.
