The police officer superimposed emojis, including a pleading, disappointed, and frowning expression, on the faces of the accused persons who were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a father and son on November 4 following a quarrel.

While the caption, “Gopalpur Police team arrested four persons for assaulting father and son,” was straightforward, the playful emojis made the announcement stand out, leaving social media users in stitches and getting the Behrampur police praise for their witty approach.

Notably, the Berhampur police’s social media account is famous for blending serious law enforcement news with humour. For instance, in October, they shared an update on a gambling crackdown, and the faces of the accused were concealed by emojis then too. Taking to his X handle after the recent post went viral, Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M wrote: "It’s not for the first time, I have posted several arrested accused persons on social media sites, particularly in the official handle of X by covering their faces with emojis in the past."

The police officer also said hiding the faces of the accused persons with emojis served a dual purpose. "It serves a dual purpose — the accused will be faced with an embracing situation and also fulfil the Supreme Court guidelines, which restrict to showing the face of the accused in public," the SP said.

Some of the comments on the post read: "Unbelievable guys with such emotional faces would assault someone,” “Emoji game is solid!” and "Funny to lag raha hai,” among others.
