Chinese fan spends Rs 3.5 crore to recreate iconic Shin Chan house
For fans of Shin Chan, the iconic red-and-white house of Shinnosuke Nohara is instantly recognizable. Now, thanks to the dedication of a 21-year-old Chinese anime enthusiast, Shen, this beloved home has been brought to life.
Spending an astounding $400,000 (approximately Rs 3.5 crore), Shen has faithfully recreated the house as part of a dream project inspired by his love for the classic Japanese comedy series.
From dream to reality
Shen’s journey began with his decision to take over his family’s sheep farm, providing the foundation for his ambitious project. According to Record China, Shen spent over a year navigating legal and logistical hurdles to obtain the official rights for the property.
This included tracking down the exclusive licensing agent for Crayon Shin Chan in China and making five trips to Shanghai to finalise the deal.
Construction of the house began in July 2024, with Shen sourcing custom-made materials to replicate every detail.
The property, which spans 100 square metres, includes everything from the parking space to the living room, designed to mirror the original house from the anime. Financial support from Shen’s mother helped make this dream a reality.
A hub for fans and future plans
Once completed, the house is expected to become a popular attraction, drawing Shin Chan fans, cosplayers, and anime enthusiasts from around the world.
Shen doesn’t intend to stop here—he plans to recreate Futaba Kindergarten from the series, transforming it into an educational center. In the long term, Shen envisions building an entire replica of Kasukabe Town, offering fans an immersive experience of the Shin Chan universe.
The legacy of Shin Chan
Created by Yoshito Usui, Crayon Shin Chan debuted as a manga in 1990 and later as a television series in 1992. Its humor and relatable characters have won hearts worldwide, and its legacy continues even after Usui’s passing in 2009.
The series remains a cultural touchstone, inspiring movies, merchandise, and now, Shen’s real-life tribute.
A nostalgic journey
Shen’s project is not only a testament to his passion for Shin Chan but also a celebration of the anime’s global influence. As fans eagerly await the completion of his next ventures, this replica of the Nohara family home stands as a nostalgic reminder of why Shin Chan remains a cherished part of millions of childhoods.
