New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon’s hands-on participation at the Sikh Games in Auckland — particularly his attempt at making Indian jalebis — has gone viral on social media.

Luxon attended the event at in Takanini, joined by local MP Rima Nakhle, to celebrate sports, culture, and community spirit within the Sikh and other Indian communities.

The standout moment of his visit came when he stepped behind a large wok of hot oil to try his hand at preparing the traditional sweet. With spectators cheering him on, the Prime Minister piped batter into the oil, attempting to create the jalebi’s distinctive spiral shape.
