A shocking video has gone viral, capturing the moment a Lithuanian couple's ill-fated attempt to climb Poland's highest peak, Mount Rysy, with their nine-month-old baby ended in a daring rescue. The parents, who ignored repeated warnings from guides and rescuers about the treacherous conditions, have been widely condemned for their reckless decision.

The couple, armed with nothing but determination and a questionable sense of adventure, set out to conquer the 2,499-metre peak despite being woefully unprepared for the icy and snowy terrain. As they ascended higher, the conditions grew more treacherous, and the parents realised they were in over their heads. In a desperate bid to save themselves and their baby, the father attempted to borrow crampons from a mountain guide, Stoch.

Stoch, who had been tracking the couple's progress, refused to let them continue, citing the extreme danger posed by the conditions. When the parents asked for assistance, Stoch wisely declined, knowing that tying the group together would put everyone at risk. Instead, he took the bold decision to carry the baby to safety himself, navigating the treacherous terrain with caution.

The footage of the incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for the couple to be held accountable for their actions.

One user wrote, "It's unbelievable how they threatened the life of a babe. I hope the police will deal with it."

“Let me guess, they did it for Instagram," suspected another individual.

A third commented, "It's hard to understand why some parents would take such a risky decision with their child's safety at stake. There are countless ways to enjoy nature without putting a baby in harm's way." A fourth reacted, "Bringing a nine-month-old up a dangerous mountain without gear is beyond reckless lucky the guide saved the baby."

The mountain guide, Stoch, is being hailed as a hero for his swift thinking and bravery in saving the baby's life.
