The incident comes just days after the deadly Red Fort blast, prompting officers to double‑check every vehicle on the road.
The incident:
Timarpur police had stopped a family sedan for a routine inspection. When the driver was asked to open the trunk, officers were greeted by a snoring man. “Satyam, wake up!” the cops shouted, shaking the slumbering passenger awake. The man, bewildered, realised he’d been caught red‑handed in the most literal sense.
The family claimed the car was packed to the brim after a wedding – there simply wasn’t any seat left.
The police said that no explosives, weapons or contraband were found. After verifying the identities, the group was let off with a stern warning about road safety.
While the story offers a much‑needed laugh amid grim headlines, it also serves as a reminder that security isn’t a joke—especially when a blast is still echoing through Delhi’s streets.
Netizens react:
"India is not beginners," a user reacted while another wrote, "Imagine ye kehh deta ke kidnap kar rakha hai mujhe to."
