An unusual declassified CIA document from the Cold War period has resurfaced online, drawing fresh intrigue. The file outlines a bizarre incident in Ukraine involving Soviet soldiers and a supposed UFO encounter. Although declassified in 2000, the report originally came to light through “Canadian Weekly World News” and Ukraine’s “Holos Ukrayiny”, and has since gained traction among UFO communities. It even made its way into conversation on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast.

The document claims that during a military exercise, a group of Soviet soldiers encountered a low-flying, saucer-shaped craft. One of them fired a surface-to-air missile, striking the object and causing it to crash. Following this, the alien occupants reportedly retaliated with a mysterious energy that turned 23 soldiers into what was described as a stone-like substance.

After the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991, the CIA acquired a 250-page KGB report containing disturbing details, including eyewitness statements and photos of the aftermath. According to the document, the soldiers’ bodies underwent a transformation at the cellular level, resembling limestone. One CIA analyst described the scene as a chilling act of extraterrestrial revenge.

“It fell to Earth not far away, and five short humanoids with ‘large heads and large black eyes’ emerged from it,” the report reads. As per the soldiers, the aliens combined to form a singular spherical entity after they Came out of the debris.

“In a few seconds, the spheres grew much bigger and exploded by flaring up with an extremely bright light. At that very instant, 23 soldiers who had watched the phenomenon turned into … stone poles. Only two soldiers who stood in the shade and were less exposed to the luminous explosion survived,” says the report.

Both the petrified bodies and the remains of the UFO were allegedly taken by the KGB to a classified facility near Moscow. Soviet scientists examining the case speculated that an unknown form of light or energy had caused the bizarre petrification process.

“If the KGB file corresponds to reality, this is an extremely menacing case. The Aliens possess weapons and technology that go beyond all our assumptions. They can stand up for themselves if attacked,” said the CIA.

The incident is believed to have taken place between 1989 and 1990, and first appeared in print in 1993. Despite its enduring presence in UFO lore, many remain skeptical.

Former CIA officer Mike Baker, speaking to Fox News, questioned the credibility of the report, saying, “If there was an incident, regardless of the nature of the incident, I suspect that the actual report doesn’t look much like what has now come out from five or six or seven iterations of what originally was [written].”
