This year, it turned 27! True to tradition, the company marked the occasion with a nostalgic doodle on its homepage, reviving its original 1998 logo.
This year’s celebrations gained widespread attention after Keerthana M, a product management apprentice at Google, as per her LinkedIn, shared glimpses of Google's Bengaluru office event in a now-viral LinkedIn post.
“Yesterday, we celebrated another year of Google’s journey — officially marked on September 27th each year. This year, Google turned 27 years old — that’s over 236,000 hours (and counting!) of shaping the way the world searches, connects, and innovates,” she wrote.
Today, Google has become an integral part of daily life for billions of people worldwide. Reflecting on the thought, she wrote, “As I soaked in the celebrations, one thought kept lingering: What would the world look like without Google? No instant answers, no YouTube tutorials, no Maps guiding us, no Gmail threads holding our work together, no Docs where collaboration thrives. Hard to even imagine, right?”
Sharing pictures of the celebrations, she said, “At our Bangalore office, the birthday vibes were unmatched — the café was lit up with incredible food, TGIT energy flowing all around, and of course, the cake (because what’s a birthday without cake?). It truly felt like being part of something much larger than yourself.”
Several users responded to the post. “So true! Google has changed the way the world learns and connects. For me, it’s YouTube that I can’t imagine life without,” said one user.
“Happy Birthday, Google! I can't imagine my life without Google Maps. It helps me to go everywhere without anyone's help! Thanks for making life easier!” wrote another.
From a humble Stanford project to a global tech titan, Google has transformed how we search, learn and connect. At 27, Google celebrates years of curiosity, discovery and endless possibilities. Happy Birthday Google.
