An entrepreneur’s post on X (formerly Twitter) about the increasing salary demands for grooms in arranged marriages has sparked a debate online. Taking to X, Vineeth K expressed his concern over the societal pressure on Indian men to earn high salaries in order to have a potential suitable match for marriage.

In the post, the investor wrote: “Salary expectations of groom during wedding matches are insane…Those earning Rs 1 lakh per month are not even being considered if the person is working in the IT sector. The mindset of parents requires a RESET. How can a 28-year-old man earn 1-2 lakh, have his own car and a house? Your generation had all these for retirement.”
