The late actor's tweet was a playful reference to his 1973 film "Bobby," in which he starred alongside Twinkle's mother, Dimple Kapadia.
What happened?
Rishi Kapoor's tweet read: "Happy Happy Birthday dear one! You were in your mum's tummy when I was serenading her in Bobby in 1973 lol." While the tweet was meant as a lighthearted joke, many fans took it literally and assumed Twinkle was Rishi's illegitimate daughter.
The clarification
Twinkle recalled, "I almost became a Kapoor because of Alia's father-in-law. On my birthday, he tweeted very generously, 'Oh you know... when you were in your mother's stomach, I serenaded her.' So everybody thought that I was his illegitimate daughter. Then he got trolled and had to clarify, saying, 'No, I am so sorry.'"
Rishi Kapoor later explained the timeline, revealing that Dimple Kapadia was indeed three months pregnant with Twinkle when they shot the song "Aksar Koi Ladka" for "Bobby."
Meanwhile, Kajol couldn't help but point out Alia Bhatt's awkward expressions during the story, prompting Twinkle to add, "I am not your sister-in-law, it was a mistake." Varun chimed in, "She doesn't know how to react."
