A video that has recently gained significant traction on social media, showing children tampering with railway tracks in India, has been debunked as misleading.

The viral clip is not from India as claimed but actually from Karachi, Pakistan.

The video shows a group of children damaging railway tracks. A Facebook user posted the video with a caption saying, ‘At this age, they are uprooting railway tracks. Imagine what they will do in the next 50 years.’

The post quickly garnered over 1,00,000 views as many other users have shared this video across other social media platforms.

However, an investigation revealed the original source of the video—a Facebook page named ‘Pakistani Trains’. The video was first uploaded on December 5, 2023.

It was identified as footage from a railway line near Sartaj Khan Hill, Boat Basin Chowki in Karachi, Pakistan.

 

The context provided in the original video clarified that the children were involved in stealing items from the railway tracks. Local authorities in Karachi had swiftly intervened, apprehending the children. Later, after securing assurances from their parents, the children were handed over to their parents.
