CBI nabs railway engineer for accepting Rs 1 lakh bribe

The accused, posted in the telecom wing of the Prayagraj Division, was allegedly demanding a total bribe of Rs 4 lakh from a private company for clearing its pending bills worth Rs 20 lakh.
"The company had executed cable-laying work between Farukhabad and Sikohabad railway stations," a senior CBI official said.
Following a complaint, the CBI registered a case on June 3 and laid a trap to apprehend the accused while accepting the first instalment of the bribe.
Simultaneous searches were also conducted at his residence and office in Mainpuri. Officials said that further investigation is underway.
