VATICAN CITY: Pope Francis on Sunday said he was pained by the discovery of the remains of 215 children at a former Catholic school for indigenous students in Canada and called for respect of the rights and culture of native people. He urged Canadian political and religious leaders to “cooperate with determination” to shed light on the finding and to seek reconciliation and healing. He stopped short of the direct apology that many Canadians had demanded. Reuters

A spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan said Sunday the couple welcomed their child Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Their daughter weighed in at 7 lbs, 11 oz. Her first name, Lilibet, is a nod to Her Majesty The Queen’s nickname. Her middle name is in honor of her grandmother and Harry’s mother. ap
