PM Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Sri Lanka President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and expressed his condolences on the loss of lives and widespread devastation in the country in the wake of Cyclone Ditwah.

He said the people of India stood in firm solidarity and support with the people of Sri Lanka in the hour of need. Dissanayake conveyed his deep gratitude for India’s assistance in the wake of the disaster.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
