India on Friday summoned Bangladesh Acting High Commissioner Mohd Nural Islam and conveyed to him that New Delhi had no role in Sheikh Hasina’s recent speech that Bangladesh claimed fanned protests in the country, leading the mobs to torch the historic home of Bangladesh founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The move follows Bangladesh summoning the Indian Ambassador and asking him to “immediately take appropriate measures, in the spirit of mutual respect to stop Hasina from making such statements.
