Bangladesh poll in first week of Feb

Dhaka: Bangladesh’s poll body chief on Saturday said general elections would be held in the first week of February 2026 but ensuring it in a free, fair and impartial manner remained a major challenge.

Pak forces kill 47 ultras near Af border

Peshawar: At least 47 terrorists have been killed by security forces in Balochistan province near the Afghanistan border in the last two days. The security forces conducted a sanitisation operation and killed 33 terrorists in Sambaza in Zhob district.

Cambodia planting land mines: Thailand

Bangkok: Three Thai soldiers on patrol were wounded when one stepped on a land mine in territory along the border with Cambodia. This shows concealed weapons continue to exist in clear violation of the Ottawa Convention, Thai military said.

Pyongyang removes border loudspeakers

Seoul: South Korea’s military said on Saturday it had detected North Korean military dismantling some loudspeakers blaring propaganda aimed at the South in parts of the border area. The military said further confirmation was needed on the positive move.
